1. Local anesthesia
Local anesthesia is administered before the procedure to ensure that the procedure is painless and without any problems.
2. Incision in the gum
The surgeon makes an incision in the jawbone and gently pushes back the mucosa and the bone with special instruments.
3. Bone bed preparation
Use the appropriate instruments to prepare the bone bed and secure the implant into it. When necessary, the jawbone is also prepared at this stage of the procedure by inserting artificial bone.
4. Stitching the mucous membranes
In some cases, we can remove a tooth and insert an implant at the same time, all in one visit. We will arrange for the mucosal stitch. After the procedure, there may be a slight swelling of the cheek, which usually peaks on the third day and then subsides. The bone takes up to 3 months to heal and grow.
5. Inspection and minor intervention
After three months, when the bone has healed, the patient comes back for a short minor procedure. For this procedure, local anesthesia is also provided, since a small incision is made in the mucosa to remove the implant. Then a small screw is loosened and an element is attached to the implant to connect it to the oral cavity and shape the mucosa.
6. Making the implant crown
After about 2 to 3 weeks, we start to make the prosthetic restoration (the so-called crown). We can place one implant or several implants by making a so-called fixed bridge.
