Why choose Dr Gordana Čižmek?
Orthodontic treatment is an important decision — it is not only about a nicer smile, but a professionally planned process that must account for the function of the bite, the stability of the result and long-term oral health.
She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, in 1995, completed her specialization in paediatric and preventive dentistry in 2008, and her specialization in orthodontics in 2013. Across more than two decades she has developed broad expertise in diagnostics, interceptive orthodontics, fixed appliances and the multidisciplinary care of patients of all ages — today with a particular focus on modern, aesthetic and digital orthodontics with Invisalign.
Orthodontic problems she treats
Misaligned teeth and an incorrect bite are not only an aesthetic issue — they can make cleaning harder, accelerate wear and place strain on the whole bite. Treatment improves both appearance and function. The most common cases:
Crowding
When there isn’t enough room in the arch, teeth overlap, twist or erupt out of position — making thorough cleaning harder.
Spacing & gaps
Excess spaces can affect the look of the smile and, in some cases, the stability of the bite and the distribution of forces between teeth.
Deep bite
The upper front teeth overlap the lower too far. Over time this can cause wear, overloading of surfaces and difficulty biting.
Crossbite
An incorrect relationship between the upper and lower jaw or teeth. Left untreated it can affect bite function, tooth wear and jaw symmetry.
Open bite
Certain teeth — most often the front ones — don’t meet when biting, which can affect chewing, speech and overall bite function.
Relapse after previous treatment. Many adults come in because their teeth have shifted again years after earlier orthodontic work. These cases need a careful assessment of the current position and a considered correction plan — often achievable with discreet clear aligners.
How orthodontic treatment works
Initial consultation
The orthodontist assesses the health of your teeth and jaws — an oral examination, dental X-rays and, where needed, a digital scan of your teeth.
Treatment planning
Based on the findings, an individualised treatment plan is prepared, which may include an appliance such as Invisalign clear aligners.
Fitting the appliance
The chosen appliance is fitted. The exact procedure depends on the type of appliance selected for your case.
Regular check-ups & adjustments
Periodic visits let us monitor progress and adjust the appliance — essential for a smooth, predictable result.
Removing the appliance
Once the teeth and jaws are correctly aligned, the appliance is removed, followed by a retention phase.
Retention & maintenance
You continue wearing a retainer to hold the new position of the teeth — the key to long-term results.

How long does treatment take — and what does it cost?
Invisalign treatment typically runs 9–15 months. Minor corrections can take as little as 3–8 months, while more complex cases run up to about 15 months. Every patient is unique, so the precise timeline is confirmed at your consultation.
Invisalign treatment generally ranges between 2,500 € and 4,000 €, depending on complexity. Pricing at OrthoDental is agreed in advance and includes all necessary steps — and flexible instalment payment with Leanpay is available. See the price list for details.
Orthodontist — frequently asked questions
Does orthodontic treatment hurt?
Orthodontic treatment usually doesn’t cause pain. After an appliance is fitted, teeth may feel sensitive to touch and when chewing, but this is normally temporary and settles within a few days.
Is an orthodontic appliance suitable for all ages?
Modern techniques are suitable for all age groups. Invisible aligners such as Invisalign let adults correct their teeth without noticeable appliances. It’s never too late to improve your smile.
Are your prices for appliances high?
We prepare individually tailored offers and are flexible on payment terms, including instalment options. The investment in a better smile is invaluable.
Do you offer instalment payment?
Yes — we’re very flexible on payment terms and offer instalment payment. At your first appointment we’ll shape an offer that fits your needs.
How long will I wait for my appliance?
There are no waiting lists with us. As a private clinic, your orthodontist can see you as soon as you book — and you can have your Invisalign aligners in just 6–8 weeks after the exam.
Are there hidden costs?
At OrthoDental the price is agreed in advance and covers all necessary procedures, including retention wires and the appliance.
How often will I need to visit?
After Invisalign is fitted, visits are usually every 7–10 weeks, depending on how the teeth are moving. We keep waiting times to a minimum.
Can you guarantee the teeth won’t move again?
Retention is essential for keeping the result. Retention wires and a retainer fitted after treatment reduce the chance of teeth shifting back.
